China Supplier Verification Report

Quick answer

A Supplier Verification Report checks the Chinese company behind your quotation against public registry records and its own online identity, then reports what matches, what does not, and what remains unknown. It starts at US$199 and is delivered as an English PDF in 2–3 business days. It is a documentary check, not a factory audit — it cannot confirm production capacity or product quality.

Who this service is for

This is the starting point for any buyer who has found a supplier and needs to know who is actually behind the quote before going further.

  • Buyers who found a supplier on Alibaba, Made-in-China or Global Sources
  • Buyers preparing to request samples or send a first deposit
  • Amazon FBA and DTC sellers screening a new private-label supplier
  • Sourcing managers who need a documented screen before engaging further
  • Distributors and agencies evaluating an unfamiliar manufacturer

When buyers order this

  • The quote looks right, but you know nothing about the company

The product, price and communication are all fine — and every fact you have came from the supplier. A verification report replaces self-description with registry records.

  • The English name and the documents do not obviously connect

The storefront says one name, the email signature another, the PI a third. This is common and usually explainable — but it must actually be explained, with records, before money moves.

  • The supplier claims to be a factory

Manufacturer status affects price, lead time, quality control and your recourse. The report gives you documentary factory-versus-trader indicators, and tells you when a live visit is the only way to settle it.

  • Something feels off and you cannot name it

Pressure to pay quickly, reluctance to share the license, a changed bank account. The report gives your unease a factual basis — or clears it.

Evidence sources

We review Chinese public registry information and the supplier's own published identity, then compare them. We use an evidence hierarchy: registry filings outrank marketplace claims, and dated records outrank undated ones. Where sources conflict, the report shows both.

  • National enterprise credit registry records (legal name, USCC, status, capital, representative, address, scope)
  • Abnormal-operation and public enforcement lists, where available
  • Public judicial records, where available
  • The supplier’s marketplace profile and claims
  • The supplier’s website, domain registration and email domain
  • Phone, address and company-name consistency across all of the above

Limitations

A verification report is documentary evidence. It is strong on identity and legal status, and silent on everything that only inspection, audit or testing can show.

Read this before ordering

  • Registry data reflects filings, which may lag reality; the report states its review date.
  • Registered capital is a subscribed figure, not cash held or company size.
  • A clean record is not a prediction of performance — it is an absence of visible adverse records.
  • Factory-versus-trader indicators are indicative; only a site visit can test them directly.
  • We cannot see private financials, internal quality systems or unpublished disputes.
  • This is not legal advice, and no part of it is a certification of the supplier.

How findings are rated

Reports use five visible-risk levels and nothing else — no scores out of 100, no green ticks, no “safe to pay”. The word visible is doing real work: the rating describes the reviewed evidence, not the supplier’s soul.

RatingWhat it means
Low visible riskNo material inconsistency was found in the information reviewed. This is not a guarantee, and it does not speak to matters outside the reviewed evidence.
Moderate visible riskSome gaps or minor inconsistencies were found and require clarification before payment.
Elevated visible riskMaterial inconsistencies, adverse records, or unresolved identity or payment issues were found.
High visible riskSerious identity, payment, legal-status or access concerns were found. Do not proceed without further professional review.
Insufficient informationThe available evidence does not support a reliable assessment. We say so rather than guess.

The full rating method, including how conflicting and missing information is handled, is on the methodology page.

Example findings

What a finding looks like in practice, and what it did and did not mean. These are illustrative patterns drawn from the categories we review — not excerpts from real client reports.

The registered business scope covers trading only, with no manufacturing wording.

A strong indicator the supplier resells rather than manufactures. Not conclusive alone — some manufacturers quote through a group trading entity — so the report pairs it with address type and asks the supplier to name the production site.

The PI names a Hong Kong company; the storefront names a Shenzhen factory.

A very common structure with legitimate and illegitimate versions. The question that matters: is the Hong Kong entity identifiably related to the mainland company? Where records cannot establish the link, the report says exactly that.

The company was registered four months ago; the profile claims 12 years of experience.

Possibly a re-registration of an older business, possibly not. The mismatch itself is the finding — and the question to the supplier writes itself.

The company appears on the abnormal-operation list for an unreachable registered address.

A material adverse record: the registry could not contact the company at its filed address. Sometimes administrative sloppiness, sometimes worse. It raises the visible-risk level and demands an explanation before payment.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly do I receive with a Supplier Verification Report?

An English PDF report, delivered in 2–3 business days, covering the registered entity details, identity-consistency findings across the supplier's online presence, factory-versus-trading-company indicators, a visible-risk rating, a list of questions to put to the supplier, a recommended next step and an explicit statement of what the review could not establish.

What can Chinese public records not tell you?

Public registry data establishes legal existence, status and formal details. It does not establish production capacity, actual factory ownership, quality systems, financial health, subcontracting arrangements, or how the company behaves with customers. Registered capital in particular is a subscribed figure, not cash in the bank, and is regularly misread as a measure of size.

What if the company name on the quotation does not match the registry?

That is a common and important finding rather than an automatic disqualification. Chinese suppliers often trade under an English marketing name distinct from their registered Chinese name, and a group may quote through one entity and invoice through another. We report the mismatch, identify which entity the records actually describe, and give you the specific question to put to the supplier.

Do you need the supplier’s permission to run a verification report?

No, because the report is built from publicly available records and the supplier’s own published material. We do not contact the supplier as part of a standalone verification report unless you ask us to. A live visit is different — that requires the supplier’s consent by definition.

How current is the registry information?

We report the data as it appears on the date of review and we state that date in the report. Chinese registry records are updated on their own schedule, and a change in legal representative, address or status may not appear immediately. A report describes a point in time, not a permanent condition.

Can you check a Hong Kong or offshore company?

We can check Hong Kong registration details, which is often relevant because a mainland factory frequently invoices through a Hong Kong entity. The important question is usually the relationship between the two — whether the Hong Kong company is a related party or an unconnected intermediary. Where we cannot establish that link from available records, we say so.
